Back on the Road Again

The past year has been filled with many changes. One of the big changes is that I was unable to make my annual trip to Tecate. In part this was due to the complexities of travel with the Covid-19 “pandemic.“ The biggest reason is because in June of 2020 I received a nasty spider bite, ended up with an allergic reaction to one of the antibiotics I was prescribed and spent a night in the hospital. The aftermath of that has left me with cough that I haven’t been able to get rid of in spite of visiting doctors and specialist for the past year. This seems to be a combination of asthma, acid reflux, and sinus issues.

A few months ago I decided that in spite of whatever issues I may have I need to find a way to continue to support the work I had started and I would serve and show God’s love anyway. God does not call us to shrink away from challenges, but to go forward in spite of them. That is my mission this week.

Today I am making my way into Mexico ahead of the rest of the team to do some service on my own. There was something inside of me that is pushing me to take this extra time away from the group. God has something special planned for me, but at this point I don’t know what it is.

Maybe it will be a casual conversation or perhaps it will be something huge. I am about to find out as my plane is landing now.
