In the Image of God

Man was created in the image of God. God created man to reflect his image. When man sinned, the sin was a choice to abandon God for something Adam and Eve desired more than God in that moment. They wanted knowledge and to be like God, so they ate the fruit God told them not to eat. In that act, man stopped reflecting God and instead began to the reflect the desire for knowledge of good and evil, the desire to be like God. Man broke the first commandment of the Old Testament and the first greatest commandment: “. . . you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind (Matt. 22:37). Sin in all its forms is a rejection of God and a choice of man to reflect the image of something or someone else.

When Jesus offered salvation, he said we must believe in Him, thus repenting from the first sin, and put God back in the place he was meant to be in our lives. We are meant to reflect his image, to worship and glorify Him.
